Akal Takht Sahib
⭐ Significance
Primary Takht (temporal/authority seat) of Sikhism located within the Golden Temple complex.
📖 History & Description
The Akal Takht (Throne of the Timeless One) was set up by Guru Hargobind in 1606 as the locus of temporal authority for the Sikh community — balancing spiritual leadership (piri) with temporal power (miri). It historically served as a center for deliberation on community matters, justice and political issues. The building has been rebuilt and renovated through the centuries; it occupies a prominent position facing the Harmandir Sahib and is architecturally integrated with the temple complex.
