📖 History & Description

Baba Bakala Sahib commemorates the site where, according to Sikh tradition, Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed in seclusion and where the community later discovered (by prophecy) that he was the rightful successor as the ninth Sikh Guru. The present complex contains multiple gurdwaras around the main darbar, a sarovar and lodging for pilgrims. The shrine is administered and maintained by local Sikh bodies and attracts large numbers of devotees particularly on the anniversaries related to Guru Tegh Bahadur.
