📖 History & Description
Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib stands on the site where Guru Tegh Bahadur (the ninth Sikh Guru) was executed in 1675 by orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. A shrine and memorial (the 'sis' denotes the head) were later established; the present gurdwara commemorates the martyrdom and is active in religious education and community service. It is located in the historic Chandni Chowk area and is often visited by pilgrims touring historic Sikh sites in Delhi.
